Deck overview

This Selesnya Voltron deck is built entirely around Sergeant John Benton, combining his built-in trample and haste with an ultra-dense suite of low-cost pump spells and protection tricks. The strategy deploys Benton on Turn 3 to attack immediately, using cheap combat buffs like Giant Growth and Mutagenic Growth to inflate his power and draw a massive hand of fresh cards via his Share Intelligence ability. By Turn 4, the deck leverages its newly drawn resources to chain lethal 21-commander-damage strikes against opponents one by one. The high volume of card draw ensures constant access to reactive shielding such as Snakeskin Veil and Overprotect to keep Benton alive. While the deck possesses explosive single-target elimination speed, it must navigate the symmetrical card draw given to defending players and the lack of extra combat steps to finish the entire table across consecutive turns.
