Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mono-Red Dragon tribal aggro strategy helmed by Lathliss, Dragon Queen. It operates by establishing early mana acceleration through 2-3 CMC mana rocks and Dragon cost-reducers like Dragonspeaker Shaman and Dragonlord's Servant, curving into Lathliss on Turn 5. Once Lathliss is deployed, every subsequent nontoken Dragon cast generates a 5/5 flying Dragon token, rapidly doubling the board's offensive presence. The deck amplifies this wide flying army with powerful ETB burn engines such as Dragon Tempest and Scourge of Valkas, mass anthems like Shared Animosity, and combat force multipliers like Terror of Mount Velus and Utvara Hellkite. Ground-based opponents struggle against the deck's asymmetric damage sweepers like Earthquake and Breath Weapon, which clear non-flying blockers while keeping Dragons untouched. Although vulnerable to mass sweepers due to limited stack protection, the density of standalone Dragon threats allows the deck to close games swiftly across Turns 7 and 8.
