Smaug's Treasure Horde by Nightroad

Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

The deck's primary plan is to accelerate into Smaug the Impenetrable, then use red self-damage effects (Blazing Sunsteel, Pyrohemia, Pestilence, Star of Extinction) to convert noncombat damage into a flood of Treasures. Smaug the Magnificent acts as a hidden secondary Smaug, adding repeatable attack damage and a slow Treasure drip. The Treasures feed several interchangeable win lines: X-spell drain (Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate), artifact ETB burn, Hellkite Tyrant's 20-artifact alt-win, and Magda tutoring. The deck can also win through dragon combat with an 8/7 indestructible haste commander. It is a tutor-heavy combo-drain hybrid that pivots to artifact damage if the commander is kept down.
