Deck overview

This Abzan deck leverages partner commanders Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan to execute an aggressive, highly synergistic strategy centered on legendary permanents and +1/+1 counters. Yoshimaru hits the board on Turn 1, quickly swelling in power as a dense curve of cheap legendary permanents, anthems, and counter doublers enter play. Reyhan acts as insurance, ensuring that accumulated counters transfer onto surviving threats whenever modified creatures leave the battlefield. By Turn 4, cards like Sovereign Okinec Ahau, Kodama of the West Tree, and Urdnan, Dromoka Warrior turn Yoshimaru and secondary beaters into lethal evasive threats capable of taking down opponents in rapid succession. The list is supported by efficient Abzan removal, asymmetric sweepers like Urza's Ruinous Blast and Damning Verdict, and robust card-draw engines that reward historic casting and combat damage, resulting in a cohesive mid-power combat powerhouse.
