Deck overview

This Rakdos deck is commanded by Ozai, the Phoenix King, leveraging his mana-banking ability, firebending 4, and built-in haste, flying, and indestructible to establish a dominating combat clock. The deck accelerates in the opening turns using efficient rocks and rituals, quickly establishing asymmetric mana denial via Blood Moon, Price of Glory, and War's Toll. Because the manabase runs 36 basic lands, it functions unimpeded while punishing opponents for tapping lands or holding up reactive spells. Once Ozai enters on Turn 5, firebending continually feeds a persistent pool of red mana that fuels massive finishers like Eldrazi Conscription, Fire Nation Turret, and Aggravated Assault. Backup plans capitalize on group slug damage from Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Orcish Bowmasters, alongside damage redirection from Brash Taunter paired with damage sweepers like Blasphemous Act.
