Deck overview

This deck uses Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon at the head of a dedicated mono-black infect and proliferate strategy. The primary plan accelerates into Skithiryx on Turn 4, gives it haste, and buffs its power with equipment like Nightmare Lash and Blackblade Reforged to eliminate opponents through 10 poison counters. A backup cast of cheap infect creatures such as Phyrexian Crusader, Plague Stinger, and Ichorclaw Myr ensures early poison distribution across the table, which is later escalated with proliferate cards like Vraska, Betrayal's Sting, Karn's Bastion, and Drown in Ichor. The mana base leverages mono-black staples including Cabal Coffers, Crypt Ghast, and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth to fuel large mana investments and commander recasts. While the deck boasts rapid single-target elimination, it must manage table threat perception and protect its combat pieces against targeted exile and board wipes.
