Deck overview

This mono-black control deck uses Fandaniel, Telophoroi Ascian to turn an instant- and sorcery-heavy graveyard into a lethal burn clock. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with rocks and rituals while casting cheap card draw and spot removal. These early plays naturally fill the graveyard and keep the battlefield clear of opposing nontoken creatures. Once Fandaniel enters, opponents must make a punishing choice each end step: sacrifice their nontoken creatures or take heavy direct damage based on the number of spells in your graveyard. Because the deck packs numerous sweepers and edicts, opponents rarely have creatures to spare, forcing them to absorb escalating life loss each round. Robust secondary win conditions like Exsanguinate, Gray Merchant of Asphodel, and Rise of the Dark Realms ensure the deck can close the game even if opponents remove the commander.
