Deck overview

This Azorius deck is an evasive Bird tribal aggro-control strategy commanded by Kastral, the Windcrested. The game plan establishes early air superiority with cheap flying creatures and cost reducers before casting Kastral on Turn 4 or 5. Once Kastral is active, dealing combat damage to opponents generates compounding card advantage, places +1/+1 counters on the flock, and reanimates fallen Birds directly to the battlefield. The deck supplements its commander with powerful combat draw engines like Coastal Piracy and Kindred Discovery, ensuring full hands throughout the game. Aerial dominance is cemented through decisive anthems including Gravitational Shift and Empyrean Eagle, while Magus of the Moat completely halts opposing ground assaults. Interactive spells and defensive cards like Perch Protection and Sephara, Sky's Blade protect the flying army as it delivers lethal damage across consecutive combat steps.
