Mono Black by kevinberry700

Format: Commander

Commander: Erebos, Bleak-Hearted

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a patient, mono-black devotion/midrange deck helmed by Erebos, Bleak-Hearted, built to convert every creature death into cards and life-loss. The commander's trigger turns the deck's many sacrifice outlets, edicts, and wipes into a draw engine, while his activated ability mops up opposing creatures. The primary path to victory is big-mana table draining: accelerate the Swamp count, cross the threshold on Cabal Coffers, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, Cabal Stronghold, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx, then finish with Exsanguinate, Corrupt, and a high-devotion Gray Merchant of Asphodel, often replayed via Whip of Erebos and Victimize. A heavy black creature suite - Rotting Regisaur, Nightmare, Syr Konrad, the Grim, Vilis, Broker of Blood - beats down and feeds death triggers in the meantime. The deck runs no infinite combos and almost no fast mana; it wins through recursion, incremental drain, and one massive X-spell.
