Deck overview

Helmed by Sauron, the Dark Lord, this Grixis shell is an amass-and-Ring-tempt midrange deck that wins through combat inevitability rather than combos. Sauron is the engine: every opponent spell amasses Orcs 1, and each Ring tempt converts into "discard your hand, draw four," so Call of the Ring, Nazgul, and the Army's own combat trigger become enormous card flow. The primary win path is a single, ever-growing Army token, fed by 13+ amass effects such as Saruman, the White Hand, Warg Rider, and March from the Black Gate; it gets evasion from Rogue's Passage, The Black Gate, or a graveyard Wonder, then doubles through Scourge of the Throne's extra combat. A secondary reanimation axis - Reanimate, Living Death, Sauron, Lord of the Rings, and The Balrog of Moria - supplies haymaker turns. The deck pays for that power with a fragile Army and a critical blind spot against artifacts.
