Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Greel, Mind Raker, a classic Spellshaper that trades cards in hand to dismantle an opponent's resources at random. The deck employs an extensive suite of discard sorceries—such as Hymn to Tourach, Mind Twist, Mind Rot, and Go Blank—to strip cards from opposing hands. Payoff creatures such as Tinybones, Trinket Thief, Fell Specter, Archfiend of Ifnir, and Aclazotz, Deepest Betrayal leverage these discard triggers for life loss, token generation, and board control. However, the deck faces significant structural challenges in multiplayer Commander. Most of its discard spells are single-target, which inherently places the pilot and the targeted player behind the two unaffected opponents in card advantage. Lacking tutors, protective equipment, and burst card draw, the deck operates as a slow attrition control deck that requires many combat cycles to eventually finish the game.
