Deck overview

This Abzan toughness-matters deck is helmed by Doran, Besieged by Time, who reduces the cost of high-toughness creatures and pumps them during combat. The primary game plan is to flood the board with creatures that have toughness significantly higher than their power, then enable toughness-based combat damage through multiple enablers such as Doran, the Siege Tower, Huatli, the Sun's Heart, Baldin, Century Herdmaster, Bedrock Tortoise, and Ancient Lumberknot. It wins through overwhelming combat damage, sometimes accelerated by Unnatural Growth or a life-swing from Tree of Perdition. Secondary value comes from life gain (Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper) and card draw tied to toughness (Ohran Frostfang, Last March of the Ents). The deck has no infinite combos and relies on incremental advantage and resilient creatures to outlast opponents.
