Deck overview

This deck is a Boros Aristocrats and burn strategy commanded by Brion Stoutarm. The primary game plan revolves around casting under-costed, high-power creatures such as Phyrexian Soulgorger, Cosmic Larva, and Bygone Colossus, or temporarily stealing opposing threats with cards like Act of Treason and Furnace Reins, and then sacrificing them to Brion. Because Brion has lifelink, each fling deals direct damage to an opponent while simultaneously padding your life total. This lifegain fuels secondary value engines including Well of Lost Dreams, Bre of Clan Stoutarm, Haliya, Guided by Light, and Celestine, the Living Saint. While the deck can deal massive bursts of damage with cards like Gratuitous Violence, Calamity Bearer, and Soul of Eternity, it closes games sequentially rather than simultaneously. Its primary vulnerabilities are reliance on the combat and tap steps, exposure to creature removal, and a lack of instant-speed interaction for opposing noncreature combos.
