Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan Aristocrats and Lifegain strategy helmed by Colfenor, the Last Yew. It operates by establishing a resilient web of sacrifice outlets, recursive creatures, and death-trigger drainers like Blood Artist and Bastion of Remembrance. The commander acts as a high-toughness recursion engine, returning smaller creatures to hand whenever any creature dies. The deck accelerates through early artifact ramp, transitions into mid-game board control using efficient sweepers like Toxic Deluge, and exerts passive pressure with attrition pieces like Braids, Arisen Nightmare and Polluted Bonds. It closes games either through compounding aristocrats drain amplified by Drivnod, Carnage Dominus and Teysa Karlov or via the deterministic two-card infinite combo of Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond, accessible through black tutors like Vampiric Tutor and Diabolic Intent.
