Deck overview

This Golgari token swarm deck is helmed by Witherbloom, the Balancer, an Elder Dragon whose affinity for creatures reduces the cost of all your spells, including the instants and sorceries that make up much of the deck's engine. The primary game plan is to generate a critical mass of creature tokens through buyback spells (Sprout Swarm, Lab Rats), upkeep triggers (Bitterblossom, Bitterbloom Bearer), landfall (Scute Swarm), and magecraft (Sedgemoor Witch), then amplify them with token doublers like Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, and Chatterfang, Squirrel General. The deck wins via combat - Craterhoof Behemoth, Overwhelming Stampede, or Finale of Devastation for X=10 - or through drain effects such as Mirkwood Bats, Professor Onyx, Exsanguinate, and Torment of Hailfire. The commander's affinity makes every spell cheaper, allowing explosive turns where you vomit out tokens and finish the table.
