Deck overview

Blech, Loafing Pest commands a synergistic Golgari archetype blending lifegain triggers, +1/+1 counter distribution, and kindred swarm tactics. The deck centers on Pests, Bats, Insects, Snakes, and Spiders, transforming every instance of lifegain into wide stat buffs across the battlefield. Low-cost creatures such as Essence Warden, Kazandu Nectarpot, and Prosperous Innkeeper supply continuous lifegain triggers from turn one onward. Once Blech enters the battlefield, routine game actions like playing lands, attacking, or sacrificing creature tokens rapidly grow a modest swarm into a lethal combat force. Aristocrat payoffs like Dina, Soul Steeper, Starscape Cleric, and Mirkwood Bats convert lifegain and token generation into inescapable table-wide life drain. Mid-game engines like Beledros Witherbloom and Iridescent Hornbeetle generate vast armies of tokens, while Duskshell Crawler and Hagra Constrictor grant trample and menace to bypass blockers. Flexible removal spells like Assassin's Trophy and Mortality Spear keep opposing threats in check while advancing the primary board-centric strategy.
