Commander: Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a mono-black attrition-control deck helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern, built to force opponents into a lose-lose choice of sacrificing permanents or discarding cards. The core game plan is to deploy symmetrical discard and sacrifice effects - Pox, Awaken the Erstwhile, Plaguecrafter, Grave Pact, Dictate of Erebos - then use Tergrid's triggered ability to steal every permanent that an opponent loses. The commander's activated side, Tergrid's Lantern, provides a repeatable pressure valve that can be untapped and reused. The deck wins by accumulating a massive board of stolen creatures, draining life with a large Torment of Hailfire, or crashing through with Rise of the Dark Realms to reanimate every creature from every graveyard. It is a slow, grinding deck that aims to outlast the table through resource denial and value theft.
