Deck overview

This Grixis midrange deck harnesses Sauron, the Dark Lord to generate massive board presence and card flow. By converting opponent spellcasts into Orc Army counters and translating Army combat hits into Ring-tempting triggers, Sauron repeatedly discards and draws fresh four-card hands. The deck maximizes this flow through nine copies of Nazgûl, which rapidly grow into lethal threats. It complements this creature engine with potent draw punishers in Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and Orcish Bowmasters, turning symmetrical wheel effects like Windfall and Dark Deal into lethal table-wide damage bursts. Defensively, the deck is exceptionally sturdy: Sauron's steep ward cost punishes targeted removal, while free spells such as Deflecting Swat and Deadly Rollick protect your investments without sacrificing mana tempo. Evasion enablers like Filth and Cover of Darkness ensure your Armies connect reliably to close games by turn 7.
