Commander: Kokusho, the Evening Star

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Kokusho, the Evening Star leads a mono-black reanimator deck that wins by repeatedly sacrificing and reanimating the dragon, stacking its 5-life death drain. The plan is supported by an extensive sacrifice-outlet suite - Ashnod's Altar, Phyrexian Tower, Warren Soultrader - and a deep reanimation package including Reanimate, Animate Dead, and Necromancy. Cabal Coffers, Urborg, and Crypt Ghast produce explosive mana to chain multiple triggers per turn. Secondary drain outlets such as Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Ayara, The Meathook Massacre, and Exsanguinate close out games if Kokusho is unavailable. The deck controls the board with edicts and spot removal, then pivots to attrition and grinding life totals. Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose turns the life gain from Kokusho and Gray Merchant into additional damage.
