Deck overview

This Abzan "toughness matters" deck helmed by Felothar the Steadfast turns the format's usual power-based combat on its head. Every creature assigns combat damage equal to its toughness rather than power, transforming defenders and high-butt walls into serious attackers. The commander provides the key "attack as though they didn't have defender" clause plus a repeatable sac outlet that draws cards equal to the sacrificed creature's toughness-fueling the hand while growing the graveyard for later value. The deck's primary path to victory is overwhelming combat via a wide board of high-toughness creatures, often accelerated by Akroma's Will or Betor, Kin to All's life-drain threshold. A handful of instant-speed protection spells keep the board alive through wipes, while Last March of the Ents provides a massive burst of card draw and deployment. The Walls of Ba Sing Se and Tree of Perdition offer both massive toughness and utility. The deck is resilient in a grind but lacks explosive speed and consistent tutor access.
