Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages Braids, Arisen Nightmare in the command zone as a rapid, asymmetric card-draw and attrition engine. By deploying cheap, recurring permanents such as Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Dreadhorde Invasion, and Hopeless Nightmare, Braids forces opponents every turn to either sacrifice valuable permanents or surrender cards and life. The resulting surge in card advantage fuels explosive mana ramp through Dark Ritual, Crypt Ghast, and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. The deck can win through an instant infinite Magecraft combo using Professor Onyx and self-targeted Chain of Smog, or through devastating drain waves with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Syr Konrad, the Grim, and Exsanguinate. A comprehensive suite of cheap removal, sweepers like Toxic Deluge, and asymmetric graveyard hate with Dauthi Voidwalker keeps opposing boards suppressed while the deck smoothly assembles its win conditions.
