Deck overview

This Mardu deck is a focused combat-cheat strategy centered on Kaalia of the Vast. The deck accelerates Kaalia into play on Turn 2 or 3 using efficient mana rocks and rituals, then equips haste or deploys proactive shielding to declare an attack on Turn 4. Kaalia's triggered ability bypasses the high mana costs of 16 premier Angels, Demons, and Dragons, putting uncounterable game-ending beaters directly into combat. The deck creates immediate must-answer states through sudden player eliminations via Master of Cruelties, damage-doubling attrition from Archfiend of Despair and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, or asymmetric board protection from Avacyn, Angel of Hope. A redundant suite of 1-CMC bodyguards and free protection spells shields Kaalia from spot removal, while efficient exile removal handles opposing threats. Without Kaalia, the deck transitions into hardcasting mid-curve threats, closing games through overwhelming flying combat damage across multiple combat steps.
