Deck overview

This Grixis deck features Thraximundar as a heavyweight Voltron commander and attrition engine. The strategy focuses on accelerating mana through early rocks and dark rituals, establishing board control with efficient instant-speed creature removal, and deploying Thraximundar ahead of curve on Turn 5. Upon entry, the commander attacks immediately with haste, forcing defending players to sacrifice creatures and growing in power with every death. The deck supplements combat pressure using evasion equipment like Whispersilk Cloak, damage amplifiers like Berserkers' Onslaught, and alternate combat phases through Seize the Day. While the list excels at removing opposing creatures and delivering heavy single-target commander damage, its multi-turn combat finish gives the table several response cycles to react. Lacking tutors, noncreature removal, and built-in protection, the deck relies on tight sequencing, tax bypasses via Netherborn Altar, and reactive deflection spells like Not of This World to steadily eliminate opponents one by one.
