Sea Monsters by jeremystark

Commander: Kruphix, God of Horizons

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Simic big-mana sea-creature tribal deck helmed by Kruphix, God of Horizons, whose indestructible body banks unspent mana as colorless and removes the hand-size limit. The plan is to ramp aggressively in the early turns, deploy Kruphix as a mana reservoir, then chain out enormous Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents - Stormtide Leviathan, Inkwell Leviathan, Tromokratis, Denizen of the Deep - and win through combat. The tribal subtheme is reinforced by Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep (free-casting sea creatures), Whelming Wave (a one-sided wipe), and Kiora Bests the Sea God (control magic). Secondary paths include Stormtide Leviathan's combat lock (all lands become Islands, enabling islandwalk) and the copy suite (Cackling Counterpart, Fated Infatuation, Stunt Double) to double up on the best threats. There are no infinite combos; this is a value-and-inevitability deck that wins by overwhelming the board with unblockable, hexproof, or shroud sea monsters.
