Deck overview

This four-color deck is a dedicated Rat typal swarm strategy piloted by Ikra Shidiqi, the Usurper and Kraum, Ludevic's Opus. The deck leverages 11 copies of Rat Colony alongside token generators like Lord Skitter, Sewer King and Totentanz, Swarm Piper to build an aggressive, scalable battlefield presence. Partner commanders provide passive color identity, steady card flow from opponent casting, and a life buffer to fuel life-spending spells. In the mid game, the deck amplifies its board using powerful typal multipliers such as Marrow-Gnawer, Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, and Coat of Arms, while converting creature density into direct reach with Wick, the Whorled Mind and Impact Tremors. Although the deck features strong graveyard recovery through Rat King, Verminister, it relies on combat damage and remains vulnerable to widespread creature removal due to limited countermagic and protection spells.
