Deck overview

This Grixis deck is built around Sauron, the Dark Lord, leveraging the Amass Orcs and Ring Temptation mechanics to dominate through midrange attrition and overwhelming combat pressure. The deck spends its opening turns developing mana via artifacts like Arcane Signet and Chromatic Lantern to cast its six-mana commander by Turn 5. Once Sauron enters the battlefield, his Ward ability provides substantial inherent protection while his passive triggers punish opponents for casting spells by rapidly swelling an Orc Army token. Combat connections trigger the Ring tempting mechanic, allowing the pilot to discard spent cards and repeatedly draw four fresh cards each turn cycle. The deck translates this card advantage into combat dominance, utilizing evasion from The Black Gate and Whispersilk Cloak alongside explosive team-wide buffs from Assault on Osgiliath and Orcish Siegemaster. Disruptive pieces like Orcish Bowmasters and Notion Thief constrain opposing draw engines while the deck steadily grinds down life totals.
