Deck overview

This Mono-Red Group Slug and Mass Land Destruction deck uses Zo-Zu the Punisher to turn normal land progression into severe damage. The primary game plan deploys early mana rocks to cast Zo-Zu the Punisher or Ankh of Mishra on Turn 3. It then casts asymmetric land denial spells such as Blood Moon, Winter Orb, Ruination, or Thoughts of Ruin around Turn 4 or 5. Starving opponents of mana allows passive triggers from Manabarbs, Sulfuric Vortex, and Dingus Egg to grind down life totals, especially when enhanced by damage multipliers like Torbran, Thane of Red Fell or Solphim, Mayhem Dominus, leading to a table finish around Turn 8. The deck excels at proactive resource denial against multi-color mana bases. However, it runs zero instant-speed interaction and very little card draw, leaving it vulnerable to fast combo decks and well-timed countermagic.
