Commander: Kaervek the Merciless

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Rakdos burn-and-control deck helmed by Kaervek the Merciless, built to punish opponents for the simple act of casting spells. Kaervek's trigger deals damage equal to each spell's mana value, and the deck amplifies that clock with Dictate of the Twin Gods (double damage) and Ojer Axonil, Deepest Might (floors red noncombat damage at 4). A dense removal suite - Terminate, Chaos Warp, Deadly Tempest, Blasphemous Act - keeps the board clear while the burn accumulates. The backup win is the classic Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond/Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose infinite life-drain loop, with Crackle with Power and Profane Command as flexible finishers. The deck is a midrange control-burn hybrid that wins through attrition and incremental damage rather than a fast combo, rewarding patient sequencing of its drain effects and damage doublers.
