Deck overview

This deck is a Rakdos Phoenix tribal and aristocrats deck led by Syrix, Carrier of the Flame. The game plan focuses on filling the graveyard with recurring Phoenixes using cards like Buried Alive, Entomb, and Faithless Looting. Once assembled around Turn 4, the deck repeatedly triggers 'leaves graveyard' abilities via sacrifice outlets such as Ashnod's Altar and Phyrexian Altar. Key engines including Desecrated Tomb, Tormod, the Desecrator, and Skeleton Crew convert these recursion loops into wide token swarms, while Syrix provides repeatable direct damage at each end step. Ground-based sweepers like Earthquake and Magmaquake act as asymmetric wipes that clear opposing blockers while leaving your flying Phoenixes unharmed. The deck establishes a critical clock around Turn 6 and finishes the table by Turn 8 through flying combat and Syr Konrad, the Grim drain.
