Volo, Guide to Monsters by TSO

Format: Commander

Commander: Volo, Guide to Monsters

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This Simic creature-value deck is helmed by Volo, Guide to Monsters, aiming to generate overwhelming card and board advantage by copying creature spells with unique creature types. The primary game plan involves ramping aggressively, deploying Volo, then chaining one-of-each-type creatures to double or triple ETB triggers. Each copy is a token that Volo can later reference to maintain type diversity. The deck wins through combat, typically via a massive Craterhoof Behemoth or End-Raze Forerunners alpha strike, or by grinding out value with Uro, Titan of Nature's Wrath and The Great Henge. A secondary infinite-mana line exists using Peregrine Drake, Cloud of Faeries, and Temur Sabertooth, though the deck lacks a dedicated mana-sink outlet beyond casting huge creatures. The commander's type-checking constraint means careful sequencing is required to avoid locking out future copies.
