Deck overview

This deck is an oppressive Dimir control build commanded by Vren, the Relentless. It pairs high-velocity mana acceleration, efficient edict effects, and format-ceiling blue countermagic to control opposing boards while generating a massive creature army. The game plan establishes an early card advantage engine through staples such as Rhystic Study, The One Ring, or Necropotence, then deploys Vren on Turn 3 or 4. Once Vren is active, symmetric sacrifice spells like Sheoldred's Edict, Accursed Marauder, and Toxic Deluge become completely asymmetric: every dying opponent creature is permanently exiled, shutting down graveyard synergies and creating large, mutually buffing Relentless Rat tokens at each end step. The deck closes games with overwhelming combat damage across Turns 6 and 7, supplemented by draw-locking effects like Narset, Parter of Veils or Notion Thief paired with Windfall. Abundant free counterspells protect the board and secure victory.
