Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control and token swarm strategy commanded by Elminster. The primary game plan revolves around manipulating the top of the library through high-density scry effects and top-deck enablers like Brainstorm and Brainstone. Once Elminster enters the battlefield on Turn 5, his +2 ability generates steady card advantage and discounts upcoming spells, while his -3 ability exiles high-mana-value spells—such as Storm Herd, Expropriate, and Mnemonic Deluge—to deploy an immediate swarm of 1/1 flying Faerie Dragon creature tokens. The deck translates this airborne army into a win by Turn 8 using powerful anthem effects like Coat of Arms and Gravitational Shift, or by casting discounted extra-turn spells. A robust suite of counterspells and removal provides strong interaction and protects key board states, while alternate win conditions like Approach of the Second Sun and Halo Fountain offer independent paths to victory if the commander is removed.
