Deck overview

This mono-black aristocrats deck is commanded by Braids, Arisen Nightmare and focuses on grinding down opponents through symmetric edicts, hand disruption, and incremental life drain. In the early turns, it deploys cheap, disposable artifacts, enchantments, and creatures such as Ichor Wellspring, Treacherous Blessing, and Burglar Rat. Once Braids hits the battlefield on Turn 3, she converts these inexpensive permanents into continuous card draw and life loss, outpacing opposing card advantage. In the midgame, the deck controls the board with fleshbag-style edict creatures while assembling drain engines including Bastion of Remembrance, Ayara, First of Locthwain, and Syr Konrad, the Grim. Games are closed through massive devotion swings with Gray Merchant of Asphodel, repeated reanimation loops via Victimize and Dread Return, and compounding aristocrat triggers that steadily deplete the entire table's life totals.
