Deck overview

This deck is a competitive Mono-Black Stax and Resource Denial engine helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright. It leverages an elite suite of fast mana—including Mox Diamond, Chrome Mox, Mana Vault, Dark Ritual, and Mishra's Workshop—to deploy oppressive stax pieces such as Trinisphere, Contamination, Nether Void, and Chains of Mephistopheles on early turns. Once opposing mana bases and options are constrained, the deck resolves Tergrid, God of Fright and casts symmetric discard or sacrifice spells like Dark Deal, Smallpox, Memory Jar, or Sheoldred's Edict. Tergrid immediately steals every discarded or sacrificed permanent, putting opponents' lands, creatures, and artifacts directly onto your battlefield while leaving their hands empty. Parity is broken naturally through black mana self-sufficiency, token generators like Bitterblossom, and card draw powerhouses like Necropotence and The One Ring.
