Commander: Hakbal of the Surging Soul

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Built around Hakbal of the Surging Soul, this is a Simic Merfolk explore-tribal deck. Hakbal makes every Merfolk explore each combat, growing the team with +1/+1 counters while his attack trigger puts extra lands into play. The primary plan is to go wide with lords and token makers, then win with unblockable or islandwalking Merfolk. A secondary path combines Deeproot Pilgrimage with Wanderwine Prophets: the attack creates a token, which is sacrificed to take an extra turn, then repeated. There is no hidden commander; the deck is built around the front face of Hakbal, and the transforming lands in the 99 are support value.
