Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan combat deck built around the toughness-matters mechanic. Led by Felothar the Steadfast, the strategy turns high-toughness, low-cost defenders into potent attackers that deal combat damage using their toughness instead of power. The mana base is supported by cheap defender dorks like Overgrown Battlement and Axebane Guardian, enabling early deployment. Felothar also provides a powerful card draw engine by sacrificing high-toughness creatures to draw substantial bursts of cards with zero discard penalty. The deck breaks parity on board wipes using asymmetric sweepers like Slaughter the Strong and Expel the Interlopers, which obliterate high-power threats across the table while leaving your defenders intact. Once an evasive piece like Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa or an overrun effect like Tower Defense or Triumph of the Hordes resolves, the deck closes the game rapidly through massive combat strikes.
