Ocean is Scary by Catylist

Format: Commander

Commander: Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

This is a Simic landfall value deck helmed by Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait, built around extra land drops, landfall triggers, and a sea-monster tribal beatdown plan. Aesi provides both an extra land drop and a landfall draw trigger, turning every land into a cantrip and every ramp spell into card advantage. The primary win is combat damage from big Krakens, Leviathans, Serpents, and Octopuses - Koma, World-Eater and Stormtide Leviathan chief among them - backed by one-sided bounce wipes like Whelming Wave and Crush of Tentacles that spare the sea-monster board. Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep acts as a hidden commander, cheating out big sea monsters for free. Secondary value comes from landfall token generation (Rampaging Baloths) and the untap engine Xolatoyac, the Smiling Flood. The deck is a classic midrange value pile: slow, resilient to creature wipes by design, but light on stack interaction.
