Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black midrange control deck led by Witch-king, Bringer of Ruin. The strategy focuses on controlling the battlefield through efficient spot removal, forced sacrifices, and targeted hand disruption while ramping into large evasive threats. In the early turns, the deck sets up mana with artifacts like Arcane Signet and The Soul Stone alongside utility creatures. By Turn 5 or 6, it casts its commander or alternative high-impact engines such as Unholy Annex // Ritual Chamber and Sheoldred, Whispering One. Combat damage and steady edicts gradually wear down opposing boards and life totals. While the deck possesses free creature removal in Deadly Rollick and Snuff Out, its clock is relatively slow, taking multiple turn cycles to close out games through combat. It excels in creature-heavy pods but struggles against spell-based combo decks and artifact-heavy strategies.
