Deck overview

This deck is a high-speed Golgari combo deck optimized for competitive Commander play. Its primary objective is assembling and executing the two-card combo of Witherbloom Apprentice and Chain of Smog on Turn 3. When the player casts Chain of Smog targeting themselves, they continuously copy the spell, triggering Witherbloom Apprentice's Magecraft ability to drain each opponent's life total from 40 to 0 in a single turn. The deck supports this game plan with format-staple fast mana, abundant universal and creature tutors, and premier burst draw spells such as Ad Nauseam and Necropotence. Protection pieces like Veil of Summer, Allosaurus Shepherd, and Vexing Bauble safeguard the combo turn against opposing interaction. Secondary win lines include Sedgemoor Witch Pest generation and a Warren Soultrader plus Gravecrawler sacrifice loop with Marionette Apprentice, giving the deck robust redundancy and recovery.
