Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and focuses on weaponizing symmetric card draw into asymmetric life drain. The primary plan accelerates into Sheoldred by Turn 4, followed by group draw and wheel effects such as Teferi's Puzzle Box, Howling Mine, and Dark Deal on Turn 5. These cards rapidly drain opposing life totals while providing massive life gain for the pilot. As an alternate win condition, the deck features the infinite combo between Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, which drains all opponents upon any life change. While the deck possesses strong creature removal and graveyard disruption, its high mana curve and vulnerability to noncreature permanent threats require careful resource management. By pairing steady attrition with sudden burst damage from Peer into the Abyss or Exsanguinate, the deck creates relentless pressure that closes out games by Turn 7.
