Deck overview

This Simic deck is a dedicated Merfolk tribal and +1/+1 counters powerhouse commanded by Hakbal of the Surging Soul. The strategy establishes early board presence with low-cost Merfolk creatures and accelerates into Hakbal by turn 3 or 4. Once assembled, Hakbal's pre-combat explore triggers provide massive card advantage, mana ramp, and counter scaling across the entire board every single turn. The deck leverages heavy tribal redundancy with lords like Lord of Atlantis, Master of the Pearl Trident, and counter amplifiers like Branching Evolution and Roaming Throne. Evasion pieces such as Herald of Secret Streams, Deepchannel Mentor, and Islandwalk enable huge unblockable alpha strikes, while one-sided sweepers like Raise the Palisade and Wave Goodbye clear away opposing defenses. Strong protection spells including Heroic Intervention, Ripples of Potential, and Vodalian Hexcatcher shield the wide creature board from opposing board wipes.
