The Tax by user9513608

Format: Commander

Commander: Grand Arbiter Augustin IV

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This Azorius control-stax list is helmed by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV, leveraging his built-in tax and cost reduction to grind the table into submission. The primary game plan is to deploy a layered prison of tax effects (Propaganda, Ghostly Prison, Drannith Magistrate, God-Pharaoh's Statue) and symmetrical board wipes (Supreme Verdict, Slaughter the Strong, Ondu Inversion) while accumulating value through repeatable token generators (Talrand, Sky Summoner, Shark Typhoon, Kykar, Zephyr Awakener) and efficient draw (Rhystic Study, Sphinx's Revelation). Wins are achieved via Approach of the Second Sun recursion or combat from a growing army of flyers and drakes. The commander's tax effect slows opponents considerably, giving this deck time to establish a lock and eventually close out the game.
