Deck overview

This Golgari midrange deck is commanded by Aphelia, Viper Whisperer, focusing on generating a growing brood of deathtouch Snake tokens and converting them into lethal threats. The deck curves out early with efficient mana ramp and low-cost deathtouch creatures, establishing Aphelia on Turn 2 to begin producing tokens on subsequent attack steps. A dense suite of fight and bite spells, including Bite Down, Aggressive Instinct, and Rocky Rebuke, leverages deathtouch to turn minor creatures into instant-speed removal for opposing threats. As the board develops, +1/+1 counter engines like Ozolith, the Shattered Spire, Hollowmurk Siege, and Ivy Lane Denizen steadily grow the attackers. The deck closes out games on Turn 6 to 8 by activating Aphelia's {4}{B} ability to halve opponents' life totals on combat damage or by rapidly stacking poison counters with Fynn, the Fangbearer.
