Deck overview

This Golgari control deck is helmed by Chevill, Bane of Monsters, turning the battlefield into a lethal hunting ground. The core strategy revolves around attaching pinging equipment such as Viridian Longbow, Pathway Arrows, and Wolfhunter's Quiver to Chevill or any of the deck's 15+ deathtouch creatures. This combination creates repeatable, instant-speed creature destruction that repeatedly triggers Chevill's bounty ability to generate steady card draw and lifegain. Anti-protection tools like Arcane Lighthouse, Detection Tower, and Bonds of Mortality bypass hexproof and indestructible defenses. As the board is kept clear of opposing threats, the deck converts attrition into victory through drain payoffs like Sanguine Bond, Enduring Tenacity, Dina, Soul Steeper, and Massacre Wurm, or by amassing Treasure tokens with Revel in Riches. While vulnerable to spell-heavy combo strategies and artifact removal, the deck excels at suppressing creature-based opponents.
