Deck overview

This deck is a classic Azorius Stax and Hard Control build commanded by Grand Arbiter Augustin IV. It is engineered to create an insurmountable resource asymmetry by stacking mana taxes, activation suppressors, and rule-of-law effects while discounting its own spells. By combining Augustin's innate cost disparity with lock pieces like Winter Orb, Stasis, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, and Drannith Magistrate, the deck completely suffocates opponent mana velocity and spell casts. Protection is backed by an elite suite of free and efficient countermagic including Force of Will, Mana Drain, and Fierce Guardianship. Once the board is locked under attrition or resolved sweepers like Farewell and Supreme Verdict, the deck closes the game by casting and resolving Approach of the Second Sun or grinding out a concession through total resource deprivation.
