Deck overview

This Grixis spellslinger deck converts every noncreature spell into board presence and damage. Led by Saruman, the White Hand, each cast amasses an Orc Army token equal to the spell's mana value, giving the Army ward 2 for built-in resilience. The deck accelerates in the early turns with efficient mana rocks, curves into Saruman, and chains cantrips and removal to inflate the Army rapidly. Secondary burn engines like Fiery Inscription, Guttersnipe, and Vivi Ornitier whittle down opposing life totals as spells resolve. To close games, the deck bypasses board stalls with unblockable effects from The Black Gate and Rogue's Passage, or converts high power into direct table-wide damage using Chandra's Ignition, Fling, and Essence Harvest. A robust suite of counterspells and hexproof effects protects the commander while mass removal resets wider opposing boards.
