Format: Commander

Commander: Kaalia of the Vast

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Kaalia of the Vast deck built around the commander's combat trigger to cheat Angels, Demons, and Dragons directly onto the battlefield attacking. The primary game plan is to accelerate into Kaalia, connect with an opponent, and deploy enormous threats like Avacyn, Angel of Hope or Balefire Dragon. The deck layers in extra combat effects-Aurelia, the Warleader, Bloodthirster, and Aggravated Assault-to chain multiple Kaalia triggers in a single turn, rapidly overwhelming the table with flying beatdown. A secondary win condition exists in Liliana's Contract if four Demons are assembled, but the primary path remains combat damage. Interaction is almost entirely removal and protection at instant speed, with no counterspells. The deck's resilience is strong thanks to recursion pieces like Animate Dead and Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord, but its consistency is held back by a mana base that is seven sources below the curve-adjusted target for a deck with an average nonland mana value of 4.24.
