Deck overview

This mono-black control and aristocrats list centers on Tergrid, God of Fright, turning symmetric sacrifice and discard effects into asymmetric resource dominance. The deck establishes early board presence with low-cost token generators such as Bitterblossom, Ophiomancer, and Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia while accelerating mana using Jet Medallion, Warren Soultrader, and Sol Ring. Once Tergrid lands on Turn 4 or 5, mass edicts like Accursed Marauder, Plaguecrafter, and Flare of Malice strip opponents of their best permanents and immediately place them onto your battlefield. Sustained attrition pieces like Grave Pact and Archfiend of Depravity maintain total creature suppression. The deck closes games across Turns 6–7 through massive stolen combat damage, heavy drain payoffs from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Vein Ripper, and Syr Konrad, the Grim, or a game-ending Torment of Hailfire. Even if Tergrid is targeted, robust reanimation packages ensure rapid recovery.
