Deck overview

This deck is a high-speed competitive Abzan combo deck designed to execute decisive, protected combo finishes on Turn 3. Its primary win condition pairs Witherbloom Apprentice with Chain of Smog to drain the entire table through infinite Magecraft triggers. Alternatively, because the deck runs zero basic lands, activating Hermit Druid mills the entire library into the graveyard. This immediately enables a Dread Return line into Necrotic Ooze, utilizing activated abilities from Devoted Druid, Channeler Initiate, and Walking Ballista to generate infinite mana and ping all opponents to death. The deck protects its combo turns using format-defining proactive silence effects such as Silence, Grand Abolisher, and Ranger-Captain of Eos. When forced into longer games, The Necrobloom acts as a potent grind engine by turning all graveyard lands into dredge resources and converting land drops into token armies or card draw with Skullclamp.
