Deck overview

This Jeskai control deck is led by Zedruu the Greathearted and focuses on weaponizing political donations, generous card draw, and asymmetric resource trades. Early turns establish a robust mana base through low-cost mana rocks and enchantments, deploying Zedruu on Turn 3 or 4. The deck then donates symmetrical or beneficial permanents like Humble Defector, Pendant of Prosperity, and Curse of Opulence to fuel an explosive upkeep engine that generates life and cards. A sturdy pillowfort shell featuring Propaganda, Promise of Loyalty, and Perplexing Chimera keeps aggressive opponents at bay while controlling the board with efficient spot removal and sweepers. The deck closes out games by digging into Approach of the Second Sun for a decisive double cast, or by gifting lethal liabilities such as Illusions of Grandeur and Nine Lives to eliminate opponents through forced life loss.
